Elf Owl (Hiding in Plain Sight) - Arizona desert landscape painting
I set out to challenge myself as an artist and used only 3 colors with this painting, using the bluest Prussian blue and yellow and white to create this gorgeous teal color. If you look close enough, hiding in plain sight is a tiny elf owl.
I can relate to this little owl. Its habitat is threatened by overconsumption, climate change, and capitalism. It seems overwhelming how small the owl is compared to the rest of the desert, but it still plays a vital role in the Sonoran Desert ecosystem.

Hi, I'm Steph! I'm an acrylic artist based out of Berlin, Germany. These dreamy landscapes come from my memories of growing up in Arizona. I see lots of colors in the desert. At times the sun's glow can seem fluorescent. When I put this on a canvas, it’s more like I paint a feeling, rather than the image itself.
Colors of the art in these photos may be slightly different from how they appear in real life. Sometimes adjustments are needed to make the picture as close to the original as possible.
All paintings come varnished unless otherwise stated.
